Under the direction and supervision of the Chief, Office of the Ombudsman, the Staff Services Manager (SSM) I (Specialist) is responsible for independently performing a variety of complex duties for the Office of the Ombudsman. The SSM I will function as an independent entity exercising a high level of decision making on behalf of the Chief, Ombudsman, uphold the integrity of the office, and have significant contact both verbally and in writing with incarcerated individuals, incarcerated individuals families, individuals under parole supervision, the public, departmental executive staff, the Undersecretary, Operations, and may have direct contact with the Governor’s Office. The SSM I will serve as the primary in-office contact in the absence of the Chief and Ombudsman.

Individuals who are eligible for a Training and Development assignment may also be considered for this position.

The California Department of Corrections Rehabilitation (CDCR) Headquarters has implemented a new automated system to streamline the hiring process. The Human Resources Technology System (HRTS) is an intuitive, user-friendly system that provides the applicant access to real time updates throughout the hiring process. Working Conditions

5% Travel is required to institutions and other headquarters offices.
