Under the direction of the Community Program Specialist III in the Self-Determination Program (SDP) Section, SDP Policy and Implementation Unit, the Community Program Specialist II (CPS II) functions as a primary liaison with regional centers and community partners in the development, implementation, monitoring, and oversight of the SDP. The CPS II may act as lead on a variety of projects involving interagency activities and community engagement groups.

This position is eligible to participate in DDS’ hybrid telework schedule. Participation in telework is subject to DDS’ guidelines.

The location for this position is to be determined, with availability in Sacramento and Orange Counties. It is not necessary to apply in both counties.

Department Information

The California Department of Developmental Services (DDS) is the agency through which the State of California provides services and supports to individuals with developmental disabilities.

These disabilities include intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism and related conditions. Services are provided through state-operated developmental centers and community facilities, and contracts with 21 nonprofit regional centers. The regional centers serve as a local resource to help find and access the services and supports available to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.

Special Requirements

The Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) must be numbered in the same order as the following areas, typed in 12-point Arial font, single spaced, and be no more than two pages in length. Applicants who fail to answer the questions or submit an SOQ may not be considered.
  • Please describe your education and personal or professional experience as it relates to research and analyzing compliance with governmental rules, laws, and regulations.
  • Please describe your personal or professional experience in coordinating and facilitating the implementation of policies and programs? Please include examples of how collaboration played a role in advancing the initiatives, as well as strategies you used to overcome any challenges or barriers.
