Position Details
Department Information
These disabilities include intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism and related conditions. Services are provided through state-operated developmental centers and community facilities, and contracts with 21 nonprofit regional centers. The regional centers serve as a local resource to help find and access the services and supports available to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.

- Experience in diversity and inclusion issues and research, particularly for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
- Experience with a broad variety of current methods and processes to address issues of service access and equity that include: implicit bias, cultural awareness; and cultural competency
- Ability to accurately synthesize data and information from a variety of sources and disciplines to take effective action
- Excellent communication skills and reason logically and creatively to analyze and explain data
- Ability to develop written reports, disseminate the information according to the audience and maintain version control
- Ability to be courteous, tactful, work effectively with a variety of people with culturally diverse backgrounds, and maintain cooperative, harmonious relationships with, all levels of staff, including executive management, RC staff, providers, the public and other state agencies
- Handle multiple projects with tight timelines
- Strong organizational, computer and communication skills
- Apply reason, logic, and creativity to analyze data and present information and ideas effectively
- Knowledge of California’s Developmental Disability service delivery system and its statutory framework including the Lanterman Act
- Understanding of processes and protocols in California state government including state and federal budgeting policies and procedures
- Ability to meet critical deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products like Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint and other online software applications
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as a team member
- Analyze situations and take effective action using initiative, resourcefulness and good judgment
- Bilingual language skills to communicate to members of the community whose preferred language is not English
