ASSOCIATE MANAGEMENT AUDITOR

Under the direction of a Senior Management Auditor, the Associate Management Auditor (AMA), independently, as part of a team, or as a lead auditor, performs field audits and program reviews of local educational agencies and non-profit entities. The AMA position is responsible for performing audit procedures in accordance with Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS). The AMA is the full journey-level classification of the audit series. The incumbent performs the following duties:

The auditor will conduct entrance conferences with auditees to communicate audit objective, scope, and audit process, conduct interviews and meetings with pertinent auditee management and staff; assess and test the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls, obtain, examine, analyze, and test source documents; evaluate processes, systems, and controls for compliance with applicable federal, state, and departmental laws, regulations, and policies; prepare work papers to support work accomplished utilizing various software applications; and develop findings and recommendations supported by the work papers. When assigned as lead auditor, under guidance from the Senior Management Auditor, coordinate audit or review tasks, and assist in reviewing working papers for clarity, accuracy, and completeness.

In addition, the position will review and analyze CPA audit reports of non-Local Education Agencies, non-profit agencies, or other business entities in a professional and timely manner to determine compliance with both state and federal requirements. Communicate with agencies and CPAs when additional information or revisions are needed to complete the audit report reviews. Calculate discrepancies between CPA verified and agency reported figures.

Working Conditions

This position is headquartered in Sacramento and may be eligible for a hybrid telework schedule for eligible applicants residing in California. A hybrid telework schedule includes working remotely and physically reporting to the office.
