What are the responsibilities and job description for the ASSOCIATE MANAGEMENT AUDITOR position at Department of Parks & Recreation?
The reporting location for this position is Headquarters located at 715 P Street in Sacramento, CA. This position will work under the direction of the Staff Management Auditor.
Staff Services Management Auditor will also be considered for recruitment purposes.
The Department of Parks and Recreation Audits Office seeks to hire a qualified and motivated Associate Management Auditor (AMA). Under the general direction of the Staff Management Auditor, the AMA independently performs the more difficult and complex functions of operational, compliance and financial audits of department divisions, districts, park units, and third-party entities including, grantees, concessionnaires and cooperating associations. The incumbent may act as a lead to an audit team providing general direction to ensure that objectives are achieved.
The incumbent must exercise good judgment working independently or in a team environment. This position requires direct contact with management representatives on a routine basis. The incumbent must have knowledge of accounting and auditing principles, standards, and practices; research and information gathering techniques; function, organization and practice of California government. An in-depth understanding of the International Professional Practices Framework promulgated by the Institute of Internal Auditors; Government Auditing Standards; and other standards of the profession is required. The incumbent must have the ability to apply the standards within the form and format prescribed by the Audits Office and requires the ability to use audit software.
The incumbent shall be proficient in preparing accurate, timely and complete workpapers, developing written audit reports, completing audit findings, describing analysis performed, and drawing sound conclusions. The AMA shall also assist in the planning and preparation of audit plans, programs, and risk assessments, according to professional auditing standards. Ability to gather, research, and analyze audit criteria such as laws, regulations, and policies is also required.
This position is a Designated Position per the Conflict of Interest Code and is required to complete and submit a Form 700, Statement of Economic Interest annually, upon assuming office and when leaving office.
