Job Description and Duties

The Department of Financial Protection and Innovation is recruiting for one, Permanent, Full-time Information Technology Specialist I Developer position within the Executive Division's Information Technology Service Division. This position is to be located in the Sacramento office. This recruitment may be used to fill subsequent vacancies of these positions within the next 180 days.

Working Conditions

The Sacramento office is located at brand new state-of-the-art May Lee State Office Complex in Sacramento's River District.

Department Information

The Department of Financial Protection and Innovation (DFPI) protects consumers and oversees financial service providers and products. The DFPI supervises the operations of state-licensed financial institutions, including banks, credit unions and money transmitters. Additionally, the DFPI licenses and regulates a variety of financial service providers, including securities brokers and dealers, investment advisers, payday lenders and other consumer finance lenders. The DFPI offers benefit packages, competitive salary, a robust training program and opportunities for advancement.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
  • Proficiency in developing ServiceNow applications and customizations(mandatory).
  • Hands-onexperience with modules like IT Service Management (ITSM) and Customer Service Management(CSM) .
  • Proficiency in JavaScript (mandatory).
  • Familiarity with other languages like HTML, CSS, AngularJS, and Bootstrap for UI customization.
  • Expertise in Client Scripts, Business Rules, Assignment Rules and Workflow Scripting.
  • Ability to analyze complex problems and design effective solutions.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with tools like Jira, Azure DevOps, or other ticketing and tracking systems.
  • ServiceNow certifications would be a plus.
  • Experience developing/maintaining applications in ASP.net,C#.net and SQL
  • Server reporting Services (SSRS).Demonstrated ability to work cohesively within a team environment.
  • Capacity to perform under pressure in a fast pace environment with changing priorities.
  • Adaptability to manage changing priorities and effectively juggle multiple tasks simultaneously.

1. What is your experience working in Service Now to develop an application involving workflow and Portal User Interface? Explain with an example Project.
2. Please detail your experience in maintaining and operating applications/systems in production environments, specifically focusing on your familiarity with incident management and change management processes. Include examples of how you've effectively managed incidents and implemented changes within these environments.
