We're looking for an IT professional who wants to enter the IT security career track. We are specifically looking for people with experience in either IT system or network administration or software development, to join our IT security team (Enterprise Security Services Office). You'll be responsible for examining, creating, and maintaining customizations for various hardware and software systems to improve their security across our organization. You'll be providing comprehensive IT security engineering services to ensure that our IT systems are protected.

Your role will involve security engineering in areas of software application, on-premises and cloud IT infrastructure (hardware & software). You'll implement and follow IT security best practices and adhere to department standards to meet our strategic business and technological goals.

Please note that to be list appointed for placement in the Information Technology Specialist II classification, you must take and pass the examination.

Working Conditions

At FI$Cal, we offer remote-centered position with the flexibility of telework for three or more days per week. In-office attendance is mandatory on designated days. Our office is located at 2000 Evergreen Street, Sacramento, CA. Candidates residing outside of California are welcome to interview, but proof of California residency is required before appointment. Please note, relocation and commute expenses are the responsibility of the employee.

This position requires prolonged sitting in an office-setting environment with the use of a personal computer. Employees must demonstrate a commitment to maintain a working environment free from discrimination and sexual harassment. All staff must maintain regular, consistent, predictable attendance, maintain good working habits and adhere to all policies and procedures.

The FI$Cal system modernized how the state of California manages its finances and is one of the largest and most dynamic IT and business-transformation undertakings in California’s history. This position is located in the Information Technology Division, whose core mission is to provide a reliable, quality solution to customers and partners and maintain the highest level of security. The Division strives to support FI$Cal with self-sufficient, innovative technology infrastructure and application services built and managed by skilled technical staff. As customer and partner needs evolve, the Division will continue to improve FI$Cal by using its mature systems development life cycle processes.

The incumbent expected to perform functions and duties under the guidance of the Department of FISCal’s core values.

The incumbent provides back-up, as necessary, to ensure continuity of departmental activities.
