Under the direction of the Staff Services Manager I, Executive Administrative Unit (EAU), the incumbent provides administrative support for the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) Executive team. Essential functions include managing the day-to-day administrative tasks of the Director and/or Chief Deputy Director (Chief DD) such as mail, email, calendars, and scheduling. Proofread and edit all outgoing documents for the Director and/or Chief DD's signature for completeness and consistency with departmental policy, format, clarity, grammar, and spelling. Facilitate routing and signature approvals of Directors Action Request (DAR) workflow tasks on behalf of the Director and/or Chief DD. Serves in a lead role reviewing, tracking, and updating the Governors Office Action Request (GOAR) log. Research and handle confidential and sensitive personnel and departmental issues and assignments and provide information upon request to the Director and/or Chief DD.
Arrange transportation, provide overnight accommodation and alternatives, and resolve travel-related problems using internal Concur and CalATERS systems. Maintain and update computer-based data systems for use in tracking the status and management of projects, monthly time sheets, and Travel Expense Claims (TEC). Conducts routine inventory checks on Executive office supplies and partners with EAU staff on procurement orders. Provides backup reception desk support as needed.

Working Conditions
This position offers the possibility of an office-centered telework agreement based on the Department's current Telework Policy.
In-office days may include backup reception desk duties where the incumbent is expected to answer the reception phone line, monitor the reception desk email inbox and escort guests while completing other essential job functions as outlined in the duty statement.
Ability to use a computer keyboard several hours a day. Involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods. Attend meetings and work with staff statewide to complete work assignments. Carry a department issued cell phone and be responsive to management.
