Help the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife fulfill its mission: To protect and enhance Oregon's fish and wildlife and their habitats for use and enjoyment by present and future generations.
Are you an experienced IT professional that also has a passion for hunting, fishing, or being in the outdoors? If so, consider joining our team providing support to the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW).
What you will do:
You will provide guidance, advice, and recommendations on program, agency, and Pacific Northwest regional Geographic Information System (GIS) needs and opportunities. This involves participating in planning and coordination activities; implementing and maintaining enterprise GIS software, databases and applications; providing analysis, and technical support functions for program-level GIS activities. You will also provide expertise and leadership regarding the use of GIS and work to develop GIS-related standards for the agency. In addition, you will provide GIS application development, documentation, and limited training to ODFW employees.

We are seeking applicants who meet the minimum qualifications and have the following skills and experience:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Five (5) years of information systems experience;
OR
- Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, OR completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field; AND three (3) years of information systems experience;
OR
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field AND one (1) year of information systems experience.
REQUESTED SKILLS:
- Requires advanced skills or knowledge in GIS and spatial database technology, computer aided mapping, math, computer programming, geography, and knowledge of state and local government organizations.
- Knowledge of, and experience with enterprise, desktop, online and mobile GIS software and related hardware.
- Knowledge of, and experience with GIS application development including the use of JavaScript.
- Knowledge of, and experience with automating GIS data processing and spatial data analysis including the use of Python.
- Familiarity with Esri-based GIS software including license management.
- Familiarity with biological resources and terminology, including the ability to synthesize biological, physical, and hydrological data and write project summary reports.
- Ability to identify and perform tasks with minimal supervision, strong coordination skills, public speaking, and the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
