**Job Description:**
As a Dental Officer at the Indian Health Service (IHS), you will be responsible for:
* Diagnosing and treating commonly encountered dental diseases and health problems
* Examining patients to identify mal-occlusions, pathological, or irregular conditions
* Providing preventative dental care measures, including education and treatment plans
* Collaborating with patients to develop treatment plans and provide ongoing care
* Maintaining accurate patient records and communicating with other healthcare professionals as needed
**Requirements:**
* Must pass a pre-employment examination
* U.S. Citizenship is required
* Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959
* Must have a 3-year residency program in a hospital dental internship or residency approved by the Council on Dental Education of the ADA
* OR 3-year dentistry experience and/or training, equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal service
* Must have a valid medical staff clinical privileges, including any licensure requirements
* Must pass the E-Verify employment verification check
* Must undergo a pre-employment fingerprint check and background investigation
**Qualifications:**
* Must have a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from an accredited dental school
* Must have completed a 3-year residency program in a hospital dental internship or residency approved by the Council on Dental Education of the ADA
* OR 3-year dentistry experience and/or training, equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal service
* Must have a valid medical staff clinical privileges, including any licensure requirements
