Under the direction of the Accounting Administrator I (Sup),the Accounting Officer (Specialist) will perform professional accounting duties of average difficulty in the establishment and maintenance of accounts and financial records for agency activities.

The Accounting Officer (Specialist) is responsible for reviewing capitation payment invoices and processing monthly capitation payment groups through the automated payment system in accordance with the procedural and statutory guidelines, preparing and distributing monthly capitation payment reports, researching and responding to payment-related inquiries, serving as a liaison with the Department's Accounting Office to resolve problems related to managed care payments, developing and maintaining routine and capitation payment data reports for various needs, reviewing and manually updating various contract data in the system and performing other duties as required. Incumbents may exercise moderate control in the administration of established policies and procedures, and may have on-going contacts with program managers, control agencies, local governmental jurisdictions, vendors, and members of the public.

Working Conditions

This position may be eligible for telework up to three days per week and is required to report in-person and site-based a minimum of two days per week. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and is subject to change consistent with DHCS’ Telework Program and Government Code sections 14200 – 14203. Telework is available to California residents, and proof of residency may be required.

Business travel may be required, and reimbursement considers an employee’s designated office and residence subject to regulations and bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the reporting location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
