This position is in the Family Services Administration, within the Permanent Housing Division. The primary responsibility for performing programmatic and administrative work is supportive of the day-to-day program operating activities and/or services. The work involves identifying and analyzing the needs of the program(s); evaluating current standard operating procedures (SOP); researching program issues, concerns and complaints; and recommending administrative strategies or changes. The assignments are average and repetitive in nature and are complicated by the requirement to determine the effect of problems encountered and propose management solutions and recommendations from among several viable alternatives

The Family Services Administration (FSA) helps individuals and families experiencing homelessness, people with low income, adults at-risk for abuse or neglect, teenage parents, families experiencing challenging times and refugees to become stable and fully self-sufficient through an array of social services, assessments and case-management and crisis-intervention.
Duties and Responsibilities
This candidate will evaluate procedures to improve operational efficiency and makes informed recommendations to improve program services. Reviews existing rules and regulations relative to the assigned office and recommends changes necessary for consistency and accuracy. Assists in improving effectiveness in meeting schedules, deadlines, priorities, and production goals. Reviews procedures, and devises means of improving, consolidating and/or standardizing administrative forms and procedures. Assists in planning and reviewing the day-to-day operation of the assigned division and informs the supervisor of the division workload, special activities, and any pending problems. Provides immediate and continuing support by briefing the supervisor on a variety of confidential matters pertaining to administrative operations, recommending courses of action, and keeping the supervisor informed of activities. Maintains established databases and/or tracking systems, ensuring efficiency in tracking, filing and retrieval of official records, documents related to agency programs.
Qualifications and Education
Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, at least one (1) year of specialized experience must have been equivalent to the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression.

Collective Bargaining Unit: This position is in a collective bargaining unit represented by AFSCME 2401 and union dues may be collected.
Position Designation: This position has been designated as Security Sensitive therefore the incumbent of this position will be subject to enhanced suitability screening pursuant to Chapter 4 of DC Personnel Regulations, Suitability and as such, incumbents of this position shall be subject to criminal background checks, background investigations, and mandatory drug and alcohol testing, as applicable.

- Telework during a declared emergency, instead of remaining or reporting to his or her duty station, if directed by the agency head (or designee), supervisor or manager.
