Temporary Case Aid (Social Service Assistant)

Work across all child welfare program areas as a member of the service delivery team.

Provide administrative support to case carrying social service specialists.

Coordinate and perform duties such as documentation, data entry, transportation, visitation, and contacting service providers.

Support the engagement of children in need of placement.

Engage with families to improve the outcomes and timeliness of cases.

Contribute to risk and safety assessments and the associated decisions and plans.

Support the caseworker in tasks related to assessment and case planning activities.

One year experience assisting professionals in one or more specialized social programs such as family services, children services, senior services, mental or developmental disability services, substance abuse programs, juvenile corrections programs, or occupational skills programs

Possession of a current certification in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Addiction Counseling Preparation, or Juvenile Corrections.

45 quarter hours, or 30 semester hours of college course work in sociology, psychology, early childhood education, criminal justice, human services, juvenile corrections, or occupational skills training.

An Associate's degree in a field not closely related to Social Work/Human Services and six months of human services related experience (i.e., work providing assistance to individuals and groups with issues such as economically disadvantaged, employment, abuse and neglect, substance abuse, aging, mental or physical disabilities, juvenile prevention, health, cultural competencies, and/or inadequate housing).

Independent and self-motivated- Experience with handling time sensitive and multiple tasks with minimal instruction and supervision

Good Communicator- Experience communicating clearly and precisely, both verbally and in writing in and out of the office.

Empathetic and Patient- Experience providing trauma informed support to the youth and families working with Child Welfare.

Confidential- Experience with handling confidential information provided during conversations, meetings, and electronically.

Professional- Experience maintaining professional language and behavior at all times.

Technology – Experience navigating basic computer software such as Office 365 (Outlook, Word, and Excel).

Your work will take place in the office and community.

Your typical work schedule will be Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific Standard Time (PST).

You will work a professional work week where the hours of work fluctuate on a daily and weekly basis to meet service needs. Occasional/frequent/rare, compensated overtime will be required, including evening and weekend work.

You will have frequent local travel. Occasional travel may be hours away. On rare occasions, you will have overnight travel. The purpose of travel will be to transport children and connect with family members.

You may be required to lift up to 40 lbs. for the purpose of placing children into car seats.

You will interact with a wide range of people including some who have experienced trauma and may exhibit challenges in controlling their emotions.

You may encounter stressful situations that require quick decision-making to ensure safety of yourself and others.

A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record are required for this position.

Finalists must be cleared by the FBI Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) through a fingerprint-based criminal records check.
