This position serves as the Facilities and Business Services Manager (SSMI) of the Business Services Los Angeles Unit, within the Financial and Business Management Division - Business Management Bureau (FBMD-BMB). The SSMI is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing business services activities within the Business Services Los Angeles Unit. The incumbent is responsible for providing business services support and coordination which includes facilities management, procurement, equipment/asset management, invoice intake, mail and supply services, reprographics, the Emergency Preparedness Program and the Business Continuity Plan. The position provides direct supervision to the Business Services Los Angeles Unit and oversees the work and progress in support of FBMD goals. This position requires extensive knowledge of, and ability to apply various laws, rules, policies, and procedures to effectively execute assigned tasks and personally perform difficult and complex business services work. As a leader in State government, the incumbent is responsible for developing and inspiring the team and delivering great results for Californians and California Department of Insurance (CDI).

This position is designated under the Conflict-of-Interest Code. The position is responsible for making or participating in the making of governmental decisions that may potentially have a material effect on personal financial interests. The appointee is required to complete Form 700 within 30 days of appointment. Failure to comply with the Conflict-of-Interest Code requirements may void the appointment.

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to work in a high-rise building.
  • Must be able to walk/stand for up to 8 hours a day.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Eligible for telework in accordance with CDIs Telework policy. Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants must reside in California. Teleworking employees may be required to report to their headquarters office location on designated telework days. Travel expenses are not reimbursed, however other authorized transit subsidies do exist for those who qualify.
  • Occasional travel may be required within and/ or outside the State of California via private or public transportation (i.e., automobile, airplane, bus, train etc.) Travel may include overnight stay(s).
