- Assists the JMD EAP Manager in the development of Department programs tailored to workforce resiliency, stress mitigation, improved mental health, effective work life balance, and specialized counseling services in concert with and for DOJ components.
- Provides confidential, short-term, solution-focused counseling and referral services to DOJ employees and their eligible family members.
- Provides counseling support to Department leadership, employees and family members impacted by operational traumatic incidents, as well as personal traumas affecting large numbers of people.
- Creates and coherently presents academic mental health topics to non-academic audiences.
- Conducts comprehensive evaluations of ongoing functions to ensure that the organization meets its stated goals and identifies areas where operational efficiency can be enhanced.
- Works with Contract Officer to discuss contract modifications when needed to ensure effective delivery of services.
- The incumbent will serve as a liaison and program coordinator and develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates suicide prevention activities in support of department goals and will do so in collaboration with stakeholders within DOJ as well as other federal government agencies and will assist in developing wellness programs to include conducting and evaluating needs assessments, implementing programs and / or activities, and planning, organizing, and managing multiple projects in the areas of psychological health and wellness. QualificationsTo qualify for the position of Employee Assistance Program Specialist at (GS-0101-14), you must meet the basic qualification requirements listed below AND possess the required specialized experience specific to this series and grade you're applying to.Basic Requirement : A. Degree : Bachelor's degree or higher that included at least 24 semester hours of course work in a major field of study or specific course requirements in the behavioral or social sciences, or a degree in a related discipline appropriate to the position. Combination of Education and Experience : A combination of education and experience that included at least 24 semester hours of course work in the behavioral or social sciences that provided the applicant with knowledge of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
