About the Agency:
The Virginia Department of Military Affairs provides leadership and administrative support to the Virginia Army National Guard, Virginia Air National Guard, and Virginia Defense Force. DMA Plans, Coordinates, Maintains Situational Awareness and employs VaARNG, VaANG, and VDF Forces for Homeland Security, and Homeland Defense in order to respond to any incidents within the Commonwealth.
The J3, Directorate of Operations synchronizes federal and domestic operational requirements with resources available to insure that the Virginia National Guard provides read and responsive capabilities to protect and secure the Commonwealth of Virginia.
The Office of Emergency Management provides coordination and integration of all activities necessary to build, sustain, and improve capabilities to mitigate against, prepare for, respond to, and recover from threatened or actual disasters, and emergencies.
The Virginia Defense Force is authorized by Title 44 of the Code of Virginia as the all-volunteer reserve of the Virginia National Guard and serves as a force multiplier integrated into all Guard domestic operations. Members of the VDF conduct training until called to state active duty by an authorization from the Governor of Virginia. Per the Code of Virginia, the organization and composition of units and force structure shall be as prescribed by the Adjutant General.
This position is part-time and limited to working a maximum of 1500 hours per year. State benefits are ineligible for this position.
Minimum Qualifications
- Demonstrated knowledge of military operations;
- Ability to prepare reports and analyze data;
- Experience in management of resources, property and equipment;
- Experience preparing written communications and oral presentations;
- Experience in management and supervision required;
- Experience assisting with budget execution and tracking required;
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance (Secret);
- Must posses and maintain a valid Virginia Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
Additional Considerations
- Experience in military operations preferred.
