The reporting location for this position is Butte College in Oroville, CA. This position will work under the general supervision of State Park Superintendent II.
This position (Cadet Training Officer) is critical to the professional development of State Park Peace Officer Cadets. The incumbent assists in the coordination and delivery of the Ranger / Lifeguard Basic Visitor Services Training Program, as well as facilitating Department training classes throughout the state. The successful candidate will be mentored for future leadership opportunities. This is an excellent promotional opportunity to learn new skills in a wide variety of settings and be at the forefront of new training concepts, equipment, and methodology. This position works under the direction of the SPS II (Academy Director) assigned to the Training Section. Responsibilities include supervisory oversight of the cadets, coordination of equipment, supplies, records, instructors, training venues, and testing. We are looking for an enthusiastic employee who demonstrates high ethical values, leadership skills, displays a high degree of initiative, and works well as a team member. The incumbent must have the ability to communicate effectively with tact and discretion. The candidate for this position may be required to travel. The successful candidate will attend the POST-certified Recruit Training Officer Orientation Program course. Prior experience as a field training officer or core instructor is highly desirable.
