This position is located in the DC Department of Public Works (DPW), Fleet Management Administration, Fleet Service Operations. The Department of Public Works (DPW) provides municipal services in two distinct program areas: environmental services/solid waste management and parking enforcement. Both contribute to making District streets and public spaces clean, safe, attractive and accessible. Behind the scenes, DPW's Fleet Management Administration supports municipal operations by procuring, fueling and maintaining thousands of District government vehicles, from sedans to heavy equipment. Fleet Management also is responsible for purchasing environmentally friendly, alternative-fuel vehicles (AFV) for the city.
Duties and Responsibilities
The incumbent is responsible for managing a full-service inventory management program that impacts most of the agencies and departments in the DC government. Performs the full range of supervisory duties and responsibilities. The incumbent is expected to develop and implement program requirements based on the strategic plan for the Department and Administration, in accordance with the policies and practices. and processes established by the Administrator and as required by the laws, statutes, rules and regulations governing inventory management services.
The incumbent maintains comprehensive fleet parts and inventory management module within the Fleet Management System (FASTER). The component modules include the Parts Inventory Management and Parts Tracking module which provides support in maintaining adequate levels of inventory to ensure that parts and equipment are available "on demand". The module also assists in the analysis of inventory usage, to develop parts and inventory forecasts, and for future cost analysis for budgeting purposes.
Qualifications and Education
Candidates must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the CS-11 grade level in the District of Columbia government service. Specialized experience is experience which is in or directly related to the line of work of the position and has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
