Are you currently majoring in Human Resources and have a strong passion for learning the state recruitment process, along with other HR functions? Consider joining the Human Resources Branch team as we support the programs carrying out the mission of the Department of Rehabilitation.

Under the close supervision of the Assistant Chief of the Human Resources Branch (Staff Services Manager II), this position is responsible for performing a variety of administrative and clerical tasks to support various personnel units within the Human Resources Branch specific to Recruitment, Examinations, and Health Management units. The Student Assistant (SA) will support the various units and assist with day-to-day operations including drafting job postings, collecting and organizing hiring documents, proofreading, editing, and formatting reports and memos. Composing correspondence to employees regarding benefits and open enrollment, mailing Family Medical Leave Act/California Family Rights Act (FMLA/CFRA) documents to employees, and assisting examination applicants with the examination process. The SA is expected to effectively communicate the progress of assigned tasks while working within a team environment and follow written and oral instructions.

Working Conditions

Seasonal Clerks, Student Assistants and Graduate Student Assistants are not allowed to work more than 1500 hours in a calendar year. The anticipated time worked will be 30 hours per week. If selected, the employee will receive an hourly compensation based on the number of hours worked. Please note, this is an in-office position.

Desirable Qualifications
