Department of Revenue is recruiting for a Revenue Agent 2 (RA2) position. We are looking for talented, detail-oriented individuals to join our Collections Division in the Tax Collections Unit 2.
This position is headquartered in our Salem office; however, the successful candidate may be eligible for in state hybrid work. Hybrid work consists of performing duties onsite in a standard office environment and working remotely.
In order to be considered for Department of Revenue recruitments, you must reside within the state of Oregon. Current Revenue employees who live outside of Oregon may apply and will be considered.
What You Will Be Doing

Collections and Investigations
- Locate customers, search for assets, employment, sources of income and determine collection potential of accounts by performing field, computer, and telephone research.
- Contact customer or representative, by phone or in person, to encourage payment
- Negotiates and establishes payment agreement.
Field Work and Higher Risk Accounts
- Manage an appropriate workload in GenTax via “get next task”.
- Maintains the integrity of the agencies computerized database by verifying and updating confidential information when those who owe call the department.
Public Assistance and Customer Service
- Assists and educates the public in person, by correspondence, and by telephone to answer in-depth questions regarding collection procedures of various programs, and options available to customers to resolve their liabilities.
- Answers general questions about various programs administered by the department.

This Is What You Need To Qualify
One year of experience in direct collection of past due accounts (telephone or face-to-face) including knowledge of field collection techniques.
Collection experience must have been your primary responsibility, not incidental to other major duties, and have included:
tracing and contacting debtors;
effecting collections by telephone or letter;
determining need for, and authorizing, payment plans; and
applying a knowledge of business and accounting records to determine the extent of liability and appropriate collection techniques.
On your application, be specific in describing your collections experience in each of the areas listed; and in explaining how you gained your knowledge of field collection techniques.
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS
The position requires an Oregon driver's license valid for the class of vehicles used by the employing agencies.
The ideal candidate will possess the following desired skills and attributes:
- Good communication skills for extensive public contact.
- Ability to deal with difficult and hostile people in person and on the phone.
- Demonstrated ability exercising excellent judgement and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work independently without constant supervision.
- Good team member- including the willingness to collaborate, share information, and contribute to the section's success.
