DESCRIPTION OF WORK: Provide household management services to elderly and infirmed individuals, couples, and families in order to enable clients to remain at home, alleviating institutional placement, or to improve the standard of living. The Community Social Services Assistant will perform the major part of work activities in the home of clients assigned to that position by the supervisor on an individual need basis. The number of cases carried by the Community Social Services Assistant will vary in accordance with the specific needs of the individuals served but will usually be between 12 and 15 cases. The Community Social Services Assistant will have weekly worker/supervisory conferences for assignments, evaluation, and instruction relative to caseload and group conferences for policy procedural interpretation as found to be necessary by the supervisor. The Community Social Services Assistant will provide services in the area of home management, and community living skills to the elderly, disabled, and/or inadequately functioning families with dependent children to enable clients to remain in their own home or to improve the living standards. Work involves demonstrating, accompanying, and assisting clients with activities to which instruction is needed or actual performance to be provided. Activities include: Planning and preparing meals, purchasing food and other household necessities, housekeeping duties, management of household budgets, and other activities essential in meeting the needs of the clients or as assigned by the supervisor.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Demonstrated possession of knowledges, skills and abilities gained through at least one year of experience in performing tasks similar to the ones assigned.
