Reporting to the PPS Director, this position serves as the Business Relationship Manager under the Agency’s Project and Program Support (PPS) team within the Commissioner’s Office. The Business Relationship manager works with the various lines of business to help prepare and submit project intake documentation, facilitates the Project Initiation Council (PIC) and ensures that all completed project requests are advanced to the PIC voting members, and upon approval of project requests, works with PPS Manager to formally handoff project to assigned project manager. This position develops relationships across the agency by meeting regularly with business partners and portfolio leadership to help identify possible project requests and increase awareness of the potential effort across business lines.

The Business Relationship Manager works with the PPS Director to identify gaps in the department and implement necessary changes to improve and grow PPS, develops and maintains executive reporting related to project intake (e.g., queue and prioritization), and identifies opportunities for growth and improvement of both PPS and its team members.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Considerable Project Management experience, specifically understanding project lifecycle, intake, and project reporting.
  • Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills (includes presentations) and effectively manages communications by delivering the right message to the right audience in a timely manner.

KSA’s and/or Competencies required to successfully perform the work:
  • Knowledge of business process reengineering with the ability to develop procedures and workflows that improve the Agency’s project intake process.
  • Demonstrated ability in strategic thinking and tactical planning from an enterprise-wide perspective, and application of management practices and principles.
  • Demonstrated ability in successfully managing interpersonal relationships with executive leadership, business stakeholders, and product owners. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills (includes presentations) and effectively manages communications by delivering the right message to the right audience in a timely manner.
  • Working knowledge of IT environments and applications.
  • Ability to assess situations to determine the importance, urgency, and risks, and make clear decisions which are timely and in the best interests of the organization.
  • Must be well organized and can direct/mentor/coach others to achieve goals through personal enthusiasm and commitment, sets clear achievable goals and manages performance against these goals.
  • Required skills: critical thinking, problem solving skills, planning, and organizing, decision-making, communication skills, influencing and leading, delegation, teamwork, negotiation, conflict management and adaptability.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, MS Power Platform (Apps, Automate, and BI).

Additional Considerations

  • Demonstrated proficiency in the development and publishing of executive reporting using tools like Power BI.
  • Microsoft Certified: Power Platform Fundamentals.
  • Knowledge of Human Services Programs, Regional Offices, and local Department of Social Services operations.
