What are the responsibilities and job description for the STAFF SERVICES MANAGER I position at Department of Social Services?
The Child and Adult Care Food Program Branch (CACFP) at the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) is seeking critical thinkers who are highly motivated, possess excellent written and verbal communication, and want to contribute to the effort to provide equitable access to nutritious meals for infants, children, and adults in California. The Data Innovation Unit (DIU) Manager will oversee the development, finalization, and publication of data analysis reports that will provide CACFP program evaluation including performance metrics, highlighting program benefits, and identifying areas of improvement. The incumbent will participate in program related activities for the current and future data system for CACFP including system updates, new system development, and user support.
The DIU Manager will oversee the development and maintenance of the CACFP budget. Budget activities include fiscal forecasting, developing spending plans, requesting additional funds, processing payments, overseeing reimbursements, ensuring adherence to fiscal policy, financial reconciliation, drafting of budget change proposals and other additional duties to ensure the timely and appropriate management of federal and state funds.
Other responsibilities of the DIU manager include monitoring and evaluating staff performance, preparing work plans and processes, meeting and working with internal and external stakeholders, and attending or presenting at conferences.

About the CACFP Branch Our mission is to provide equitable access to nutritious meals for infants, children, and adults in the community by supporting our CACFP Operators through policy guidance, nutrition education, and training. Our vision is to ensure infants, children, and adults have access to healthy meals through the CACFP, and our Program Operators have the support and resources to successfully administer the program.
