About the Position:
The Virginia State Police (VSP) is seeking to hire a Human Resources (HR) Executive Secretary in our Human Resources Division at our Administrative Headquarters in North Chesterfield, Virginia. The successful candidate will provide secretarial and administrative support to the HR Director and HR Leadership Team; prepare correspondence and reports and compose correspondence; receive and transmit electronic mail for the HR Division; maintain the Division’s Intranet pages and coordinates the HR Division quarterly newsletter; schedule appointments and meetings for the Director and staff; coordinate activities and programs related to employee engagement; plan and organize employee events, parties, activities, and excursions as part of the Employee Recognition and Engagement Program; coordinate State Police Headquarters (SPHQ) supply donation campaigns; order equipment and supplies as necessary; prepare the equipment inventory for the Division; requisition supplies and services through eVa; administer the VSP Volunteer Program with the assistance of the Wage Program Support Technician and receive telephone or e-mail inquiries from interested individuals in serving as a volunteer with the VSP.

Minimum Qualifications
- Considerable knowledge of general office practices, grammar, spelling and punctuation and of basic math and of various filing systems.
- Skill in operating computers and using Microsoft Office applications; and in keyboarding.
- Demonstrated ability to type from handwritten copies; to lead the work of others and coordinate the office workflow; to prioritize work to meet established deadlines; to notarize documents; to compose and type routine and confidential correspondence and reports; to communicate effectively orally and in writing in English; to work with Agency staff, executives and the general public; and to follow written guidelines.
- Significant secretarial experience.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Additional Considerations
- Notary Public preferred.
