Under general direction of the Information Technology Manager (IT Mgr) I, the IT Supervisor (IT Sup) II performs complex and sensitive tasks involving initial approval of significant information technology (IT) projects within the State government and oversees these projects to enhance IT project implementation success.

Telework
This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule within California based on departmental policy and operational needs. The telework policy is subject to change depending on business needs, and/or reporting to the work site may be required with minimal notification given.

Working Conditions

  • May be required to work outside of normal business hours.

STATEMENT OF QUALIFICATIONS (SOQ) REQUIRED All interested applicants are required to submit a Statement of Qualifications (SOQ). You must provide direct responses to each of the numbered items listed below. Each individual response must be numbered and include the full text of the numbered items prior to your response. Please include specific examples of your education, training, and/or experience. Limit your SOQ to a maximum of two (2) pages on standard-sized paper (8.5" x 11"),single-spaced, twelve-point Arial font.

Please respond to both questions.

1. Describe your experience as a project manager or lead on one or more IT projects. Include a short project summary along with project budget, duration, team size, and executive and or external stakeholder communication requirements.

2.Describe your experience on projects that have used various IT system development approaches/methodologies. Include some of the challenges you have experienced with each approach/methodology.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
  • PMP Certification or other formal project management certification(s) is desired.
  • Direct experience leading IT projects, either in a Project Manager/Director role or a key role on large projects.
  • A very broad knowledge of principles of the State approval process for information technology projects, project management and information technology systems design.
  • Ability to exercise a high degree of initiative, independence of action and originality, and must demonstrate tact and good independent judgment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in order to develop and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships.
  • Strong written and verbal skills to communicate issues and concerns.
  • Ability to adapt easily to changing priorities and maintain consistent, predictable attendance in the performance of these specific functions.
