Job Description
This position serves as the senior research scientist/engineer, DEVCOM Armaments Center (AC), which is the Army's technology leader for armament systems. The primary objective of this role is to support the Army's strategic planning by providing necessary capabilities to Combatant Commanders in support of National security and defense strategies.
The ideal candidate will have experience with Energetics Characterization and Qualification (EC&Q) technology experiments, chemistry, material interactions, and subsequent relationships and applications to munition systems design and performance. They should be able to think creatively and practically about issues and inform policy, programs, and operational needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading complex programs of research, scientific leadership/mentoring of other scientists, and close collaboration with scientists of various disciplines within DoD, academia, and industry.
- Establishing and maintaining impactful working relationships with key management, professional, and scientific personnel.
- Advising and consulting on scientific and technological programs and problems.
Requirements
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- A minimum of a Graduate Degree (preferably Ph.D.) in one of the following disciplines: 0801, 0830, 0855, or 0893.
- Substantial experience and significant scientific contributions related to the scientific disciplines and topic areas described in this position description.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain impactful working relationships with key management, professional, and scientific personnel.
- Stature in the profession as indicated by memberships, activity, and tangible contributions in professional and scientific societies or equivalent organizations.
