What are the responsibilities and job description for the LEGAL ASSISTANT position at Department of the Navy?
You will serve as a Legal Assistant (OA) in the Training Command of Training and Education Command.
Your primary duties will be to perform extensive legal research in areas such as military justice, administrative law, administrative separations, commanders' inquiries, and reports of investigation. You will use various sources including legal references, computerized research terminals, and other available resources to obtain appropriate authorities and administrative rulings, statutes, and regulations.
You will also review and analyze precedents relevant to cases and prepare legal research summaries for use by the TRNGCMD Judge Advocate in legal matters. Additionally, you will perform legal research, including researching legal reference files for specific information such as pertinent Federal and State statutes, cases, briefs, opinions, and other points of legal significance.
Further, you will be responsible for training, coaching, and guiding legal representatives in the execution of various legal actions. You will also prepare documents used in administration of military justice cases and routine office correspondence.
