The role:

As a highway maintenance coordinator, you will respond to emergencies and patrol the area looking for potential hazards and damages. You will ensure maintenance activities are planned, prioritized, performed and completed in an efficient and safe manner. You will also work closely with the maintenance manager to make sure crews have what they need to be successful and provide feedback on performance. In addition to working alongside the maintenance crew in the field, you’ll also work in the office to make sure invoices are paid, order supplies and ensure equipment maintenance is performed. A day in the life:
- Plan, prioritize, schedule and assign work including scheduling night and weekend shifts.
- Ensure crews have the resources needed to complete their work including the right quantities of materials and equipment for projects.
- Review and approve time records, overtime, vacation, sick time and other leave requests.
- Help with the hiring and selection process and provide recommendations to management.
- Train employees on operating a variety of heavy and light equipment safely.
- Review the work of crews and provide input to the maintenance manager on employee performance.
- Assist the maintenance manager with short and long-range planning and budget preparation.
- Patrol highways and structures looking for crashes, hazards and damages, and respond to emergencies.
- Exposure to noise, extreme heights, all weather conditions, heavy equipment, pesticides and hazardous waste materials is expected.
- Must be able to move around rough terrain, bend and stoop for extended periods and may need to lift up to 75 pounds.
- May need to work long hours and be available after hours, on weekends and holidays for emergency, on call and weather related purposes.

Minimum qualifications:
Three years of maintenance or construction experience in roadway, highway, bridge, sign, drawbridge, or landscape.
Special qualifications:
You must possess a current, valid commercial driver's license A (CDL-A) with a tanker endorsement, no air brake restrictions, no 5th wheel restrictions and no manual transmission restrictions, OR have the ability to acquire a class A commercial learner permit within 60 days of hire and a CDL-A with a tanker endorsement and restrictions removed within six months of hire (ODOT will cover training costs) to be considered eligible for this position. A valid driver license and an acceptable driving record are required for this position. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks, including Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Clearinghouse registration and full query check for our final candidate(s) and annual query for current employees.
This position requires a maximum 35 minute response time to 5443 Eagle Valley Road, Yoncalla, OR 97499 for emergency call-outs.
