As a team member, you will be responsible for a variety of personnel activities and will perform complex analytical duties that are both assignment and project based. You will also promote customer satisfaction through quality customer service and will initiate or recommend changes using innovative solutions to meet customer needs. Work cooperatively with staff from the California Department of Human Resources (CalHR), State Personnel Board, other state agencies, and Departmental managers, supervisors, & Administrative Officers.

Department of Water Resources (DWR) was established in 1956 by the California State Legislature. We manage California’s water resources, systems, and infrastructure, including the State Water Project, in a responsible sustainable way.

Special Requirements

As a permanent-intermittent position, the incumbent may not exceed working 1,500 hours in a calendar year. Permanent-intermittent (PI) employees are eligible to receive benefits after meeting the required work hour criteria and do receive holiday pay on a pro-rated basis. The scheduled work hours for this position are a minimum of 28-32 hours per week, with 8 hours a day in the office.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

The incumbent will be expected to multi-task analytical assignments while adapting to changes in business priorities in relation to HR. This position must complete tasks and projects, be responsible for projecting the Department's professional image, and is the Department's liaison with external contacts in addressing HR needs. The incumbent must be adaptable to working with a multitude of different professions, management levels, and department business needs. Be able to write effective reports, perform independent research, experience with Microsoft Office, project management, have experience using SAP or similar databases and performing analysis on HR related matters to management, including hiring and recruitment. Last of all, we are seeking someone with experience reviewing qualitative and quantitative data to create recommendations to improve business process.
