Position:             Staff Clinician I

Classification:    Full-time, Exempt

Reports to:         Program Manager

Location:            San Antonio, TX

Position Description:

The Staff Clinician will provide parent education in a home-based setting throughout San Antonio and surrounding counties utilizing the Triple P Model of Parenting.  The purpose of this program is to prevent child abuse and neglect by decreasing the risk factors that contribute to child maltreatment and increasing the protective factors that prevent maltreatment.  The Staff Clinician will conduct intake, assessment, construct treatment plans, provide supportive counseling and teach parenting education.  The Staff Clinician will also work closely with the surrounding community providing advocacy and referral services. 

Experience/Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s in social work or related field required.
  • Must have a Triple P certification or be able to attain such certification within the first year of employment. Employment is contingent on acquisition of minimal certification/licensure.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours which vary according to client needs.

Experienced/Skills Preferred:

  • One (1) year related experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Understand and model Cultural Sensitivity
  • Ability to problem solve complex problems in family relationships.
  • Ability to develop comprehensive treatment plans utilizing a variety of agency and community resources.
  • Ability to participate effectively in team staffing, supervision consultation, and case staffing with effective communication skills.
  • Capable of making behavioral assessments.
  • Work cooperatively with other members of the program staff as well as other programs of DePelchin and other community resources.
  • Must have knowledge of human behavior and the practice of crisis intervention.
  • Must have above average assessment skills.
  • Must be able to relate to professionals from a variety of different disciplines and community agencies.
  • Must have above average written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have knowledge of the field of child welfare and services available to children and their families.
  • Must have an awareness of skills needed to provide crisis intervention services.
  • Must be aware of accepted practices, models, methods, and techniques of child, individual, and family therapy.

Work Conditions:

  • Environment: Hybrid - Client homes, Community settings
  • Range of Schedule:  Flexible work hours: vary according to client needs.  Will require working evenings and some Saturdays.
  • Travel: Frequent, Local (Must have reliable transportation and valid Texas driver license)
