Job Duties:
Wilson Workforce and Rehabilitation Center (WWRC) Occupational Therapy Department seeks a therapy aide. The therapy aide position will be responsible for providing quality routine tasks related to the efficient operation of the Occupational, Physical, and Speech Therapy Departments (including Student Health on an as-needed basis) and assisting in pre-determined client-related activities that are assigned and supervised by a licensed therapist/clinician. The therapy aide ensures maintenance and cleanliness of the therapy areas, equipment, and supplies; performs clerical duties such as filing, duplicating, and answering phones; retrieves/distributes mail; and checks inventory of all occupational therapy-related equipment/supplies. Duties may include running off-campus department-related errands and providing client support transportation as needed. The above are consistent with on-the-job training and are within the laws of Virginia governing the practice of therapy.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ability to demonstrate positive interactions with various levels of staff/clients/caregivers/consumers/vendors.
- Ability to work as a team member.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
- Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
- Ability to follow guidelines and expectations related to client and staff confidentiality.
- Ability to manipulate/handle adaptive equipment or other assistive technology.
- Be fully responsible for all delegated and outlined tasks and duties.
- To meet the expectations of the Therapy Aide, the incumbent must have access to personally identifiable and confidential information about agency consumers and/or agency staff.
