Job Duties
The Office of Internal Operations is seeking a qualified candidate to serve as the leader of all internal operations for the Virginia Department of Education by coordinating the internal functions of the agency. This position will provide leadership and technical expertise, facilitate policy development and implementation, represent the department as needed, plan and administer programs for internal support services logistical operations of the agency, as well as provide technical assistance to agency leadership. Pursuant to Sections 2.2-3114 and 2.2-3115 of the Code of Virginia, the position of Executive Director for Internal Operations has been designated to file by the Code of Virginia, an annual “Statement of Economic Interests” form.
Minimum Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in leading and managing organization logistical and internal support functions.
- Ability to manage large scale programs including operational oversight, competitive grants, and compliance and monitoring.
- Knowledge of project planning tools, stakeholder engagement, risk mitigation, and performance analysis.
- Demonstrated experience in project management including deadline tracking, day-to-day operations, and risk mitigation.
- Ability to communicate complex information to various audiences orally and in writing.
- Ability to lead, supervise, and evaluate multiple staff across multiple office functions.
- Ability to research, assess, develop, and implement strategic educational and operational initiatives.
- Ability to manage large scale instructional improvement programs and to communicate information to various audiences orally and in writing.
Additional Considerations
- Experience at the management or executive level; administering comprehensive operational programs and operational process improvement planning; and working with the general public, leaders, and government officials to resolve educational or operational issues.
- Proficiency in analytics and logistics.
- An advanced college degree in Education, in Operations, Project Management, Public Administration, or a related field preferred, but not required.
- Experience in budget allocation, leadership, management, and evaluation of staff.
