Job Description
Major Responsibilities
- Under direction, with latitude for independent initiative and judgment, perform difficult and responsible supervisory and administrative work for Brooklyn Operations.
- Work closely with the Chief and Deputy Chief of Administrative Services.
- Conduct and analyze recruitment activities.
- Schedule interviews and coordinate and distribute interview materials.
- Assist with the oversight of annual probationary and seasonal evaluations.
- Manage special projects and assignments.
- Assist with training initiatives, maintaining records, and compiling reports.
- Serve as a liaison to Central Human Resources, Payroll and Timekeeping, Legal division, Purchasing & Accounting.
- Provide general support services, including filing, answering phone calls and responding to inquiries.
- Oversee records management for borough, liaising with legal division on law claims and other matters.

Minimum Qualifications
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
Preferred Skills
1. Excellent administrative, organizational, supervisory and communication skills. 2. Strong analytical and statistical experience. 3. Familiarity with Human Resource Management and Purchasing. 4. Ability to maintain databases and generate metrics and performance reports. 5. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel Access and PowerPoint. 6. Valid New York State driver license.

Residency Requirement
Residency in New York City, Nassau, Orange, Rockland, Suffolk, Putnam or Westchester counties required for employees with over two years of city service. New York City residency required within 90 days of hire for all other candidates.
