Occupational Title(s)- Program Coordinator represents the full performance level and is responsible for providing overall program management and coordination of a human services program by developing, coordinating and providing programs, resources and services to meet applicant needs. Employees plan and develop strategies for improving outcomes and implement human services programs. The Program Coordinator is distinguished from the Program Coordinator Supervisor by the latter’s responsibility for supervisory activities such as handling personnel issues and evaluating the work of others. This position is a Temporary Full-Time position expected to last for one year and will offer no benefits.
General Work Tasks (Illustrative Only) –
- Oversees funding application programs for families seeking compensation for disaster assistance and recovery
- Works with federal, state, and local agencies and organizations as they relate to disaster relief processes
- Prepares, analyzes, and communicates damage assessments during and following disasters or emergencies
- Communicates with public safety officials and the general public regarding emergency response efforts
- Leads, directs, monitors and assists the work of disaster relief staff and volunteers
- Establishes an effective working relationship with officials, staff, and volunteers
- Presents relative information clearly both oral and written
- Receives and presents financial application awards and approved expenditures
- Independently performs a variety of administrative and professional tasks in support of assigned area of responsibilities
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge-
- Knowledge of government disaster relief programs
- Knowledge of specialized disaster website programs such as Virginia Flood Risk Information System, Flood Partners, Crisis Track, Crisis Connect and others
- Knowledge of funding assistance programs for disaster victims
- Knowledge of computer software applications such as word processing and spreadsheet applications
Skills- Skill in operating a computer to enter, retrieve or modify data, and the use of word processing, spreadsheet, database, desktop publishing, e-mail, Internet, or other computer programs.
