Title: Tool Room Manager
Job Summary:
The Toolroom Manager oversees and coordinates the workflow of a highly skilled Toolroom staff consisting of toolmakers, CNC programmers, Manufacturing engineers, and team leaders, placing particular emphasis on the development of high-quality precision tooling.

Duties/Responsibilities:
The Toolroom Manager carries out several essential functions critical for seamless operations within the tooling department.
- Supervision of department staff and team leaders.
- Optimize workflow and increase productivity and throughput.
- Develop processes/procedures necessary to complete projects.
- Review and edit various ERP data that the department is responsible for.
- Monitor and implement schedules for each assigned work center.
- Prioritize production activity based on master list to ensure on time delivery.
- Contacts with persons inside and outside the company where matters discussed require a working knowledge of tooling, policies, practices, and procedures.
- Troubleshoot machine breakdowns to assist in determining cause and malfunction and notify appropriate personnel for service or repair.
- Seek out new technologies.
- CAR investigation and responses to customer claims and internal quality rejections.
- Reviewing customer inquiries, specifications, requirements and quoting, tooling and prototypes.
- Oversees troubleshooting processes.
- Maintain inventory of required materials and cutting tools.
- Maintain schedules; approve vacation to ensure adequate coverage,
- Evaluate and manage individual performance.
- Hire, train and develop toolroom personnel.
- Interface with project and design engineering on product and tooling development.
- Efficient use of machine space and personnel.
- Completes new tool construction on time and within budget to high quality and precision standards.
- Controls repair cost to minimize expenses and correct design and construction problems wherever possible.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Develops highly motivated teams and promotes leadership skills.
- Interfaces closely with Design and Project Engineers on the development of lowest cost design solutions.
- Interfaces closely with Department Production Managers on the tool maintenance and support activities.
- Recommends corrective actions and follows up on progress until adequate results are achieved.
- Coordinates Training for coworkers and apprentices as required.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Develops highly motivated teams and promotes leadership skills.

Education and Experience:
- 4-Year state approved apprentice program or equivalent.
- 8-10 years stamping and molding experience.
- 2-3 years team-oriented leadership skill training.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
