Dermatology Clinic seeking experienced billing specialist. Duties include but are not limited to:
Job Summary:
The Dermatology Medical Biller is responsible for accurately coding and submitting claims to insurance companies, as well as following up on outstanding claims and denials.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review patient charts to ensure accurate and complete documentation of services rendered.
- Accurately code medical procedures and diagnoses using ICD-10 and CPT codes.
- Submit claims to insurance companies and government payers in a timely manner.
- Follow up on outstanding claims and denials to ensure timely reimbursement.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of insurance regulations and coding changes.
- Participate in training and continuing education programs to maintain knowledge and skills.
- Have extensive knowledge of CPT Coding, ICD 10, Modifiers, A/R, third-party collection agencies, HIPAA regulations and compliance
- Have excellent computer skills including Modernizing Medicine, Trizetto, Microsoft 365
- Excel in time management to handle various billing responsibilities simultaneously
- Maintain high daily production standards
- Provide immediate, supportive and clear assistance in all billing aspects to Providers, Clinical and Front Office staff, and patients
- Work with payers to determine reasons for denials, correcting and reprocessing claims for payment, in an assertive, timely manner
- Demonstrate ability to reduce aging claims to maintain national benchmarks
- Communicate with patients for outstanding balances, establish/monitor payment plans, and working with third-party collection agency
- Assess patient statements for proper payment posting and patient responsibility
- Identify trends related to denials/coding, analyzing statistical data and communicate effectively with Billing Supervisor, Practice Manager
- Understand health care providers responsible for lawful release of medical documentation to third-party payers, when necessary
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, medical billing, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing, preferably in a dermatology setting.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10, and CPT coding.
- Familiarity with insurance regulations and reimbursement policies.
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in computer skills, including electronic medical records and billing software.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
