What are the responsibilities and job description for the A/R Cash Application Specialist position at DERMATOLOGY MANAGEMENT LLC?
The Cash Application Specialist is responsible for the posting of all payments, including manual remittances, ERAs, $0 payments, payment recoveries and denials.
Essential Functions:
· Enter all manual payments into the NextGen system and entering all related contractual adjustments as documented on the remittance advice with complete accuracy.
· Download all ERA files from clearinghouse, including files for $0 remittances, and upload the files into NextGen.
· Reconcile all payments posted to the manual batch or ERA file to ensure complete accuracy.
· Enter all denials from non-electronic remittances into NextGen using the appropriate HIPAA X12 reason codes.
· Manually enter all payment recoveries from both manual remittances and ERA files with complete accuracy.
· Count the cash received at all Las Vegas clinic locations and prepare the Las Vegas deposit
· Apply all cash, check and credit card payments received at the clinic locations companywide to the appropriate patient account and balance with complete accuracy.
· Ensure all payments deposited in the previous business day are fully posted and reconciled by close of business on the current day.
· Work the Unidentified Payments account on a weekly basis at minimum to ensure all payments are applied against the appropriate balances
· Work the Unapplied Payments report on a weekly basis at minimum to ensure all patient payments are applied against the appropriate balances
· Performs other duties as required by management.
Qualifications:
· Requires high school diploma or GED.
· Requires knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
· Requires a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
· Requires ability to effectively use Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
· Must be able to work effectively both independently and with team members.
· Must be able to interact in a consistently professional and courteous manner with colleagues, patients, physicians and all others with whom contact occurs in the workplace.
· Ability to properly utilize basic office equipment, including multi-line phones, copy and fax machines, and other office equipment.

Requires sitting and standing for long periods of time. Work is performed in an office environment. Some bending, lifting and stretching is required. Manual dexterity required for use of calculator, computer keyboard and mouse.
