General Summary:
Sets tables and serves meals to Club members and guests according to well established rules of etiquette and performs various incidental duties to furnish satisfactory service.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Must have thorough knowledge of both ala carte and buffet service including style, pricing, and menu selections.
- Must have thorough knowledge of cocktail service including types of drinks, ingredients, prices, and proper service.
- Responsible for sale tickets and having members sign ticket before leaving.
- Responsible for cleaning and re-setting the tables.
- Responsible for various side duties, such as refilling condiments, restocking supplies, cleaning work area and end-of-the-month inventory.
- Be courteous, obliging, and attentive. Always greet members and/or guests with a smile and a salutation.
- Inspect all dishes, glass, and silver for cleanliness or breakage before serving.
- Place and remove dishes from the left.
- Place and remove beverages from the right.
- Do not place fingers or thumbs inside dish or glass.
- Handle cups and silver by handles; handle glass at base.
- Serve ladies first if gentlemen are seated at the same table.
- Clean table well before serving dessert.
- Use a tray for serving or clearing.
- Leave coffee cups and water glasses on table when refilling.
- Use liners when appropriate.
- Be prepared to assist co-workers in any department.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Environment:
Frequently required to stand, walk, sit; use hands and fingers to feel, handle or carry. Frequently required to reach with hands and arms; to climb, balance, stoop, kneel and crouch. Employee will regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Must have knowledge of food and beverage serving skills normally acquired through on the job training and a minimum of three months experience.
- Must be familiar with American and foreign dishes, and all types of wines and alcoholic beverages.
- Excellent interpersonal skill required to be courteous in greeting members and communicating menu items.
- Position requires three (3) to six (6) months of on-the-job experience to become qualified to perform the duties effectively.
