SIGN ON BONUS!
The Des Moines Public Schools is offering a sign on bonus for ALL newly-hired bus drivers! Details are listed below-APPLY TODAY!
2,000 Sign-On Bonus :
- 500.00 paid after 30 actual working days.
- 1000.00 paid after the successful completion of the probationary period of 90 actual working days.
- 500.00 paid after 180 actual workdays.
The District is willing to train and assist you with obtaining a CDL within 60 days of hire.
Previous DMPS bus drivers who have worked for the District within the past six months from resignation date will not be eligible for the sign on bonus.
Hiring Requirements :
Work morning and afternoon shift daily, other hours may be available.
Twenty (20) years of age or older.
Ability to obtain Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within a 60 day period.
Ability to obtain State of Iowa School Bus Operators permit.
For internal candidates : a meets or better evaluation, no employee conduct documents the past 12 months and no more than 10 days of unauthorized absences the last 12 months. See transfer language for more details.

BASIC FUNCTION :
Operate a school bus in a safe and efficient manner to ensure the safety of passengers. This position requires continuous use of independent judgment. The essential functions as shown below represent only the key areas of responsibility; specific position requirements will vary depending on the needs of the Transportation Department.
