Job Title: Director of Recreational Soccer

Reports to: Executive Director

Location: Des Moines - Aliber and Water Works Fields

Status: Part-time

Position Overview:

DMSC Mission - Through relationship-building, education, skill development, and coaching, DMSC provides a positive, fun soccer experience and gives all players, families, and community members the opportunity to realize their potential on and off the pitch.

The Director of Recreational Soccer (DORS) at Des Moines Soccer Club will lead the recreational soccer program for ages 4U-19U. This role combines program development, coaching education, player development, and community engagement, ensuring alignment with the club’s mission. The DORS will drive grassroots initiatives, coach support, and family involvement to create a positive and growth-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement short-term and long-term plans for the recreational soccer program.
• Oversee the growth and development of soccer programs for all age groups (4U-19U).
• Lead coaching education, provide training sessions, clinics, and mentorship.
• In collaboration with DMSC staff, manage game-day operations, team formation, and scheduling.
• Serve as the primary contact for parents and coaches, promoting communication and engagement.
• Coordinate outreach to schools and community organizations.
• Work with the Executive Director on budget development and staff recruitment.

Community Engagement & Communication:

• Keep families informed on player development, program updates, and club activities.
• Represent the club at events and foster positive relationships with all participants.

Qualifications:

• US Soccer Grassroots Coaching License required (US Soccer D License preferred).
• Experience in coaching and managing youth soccer programs (4U-19U).
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications:

• US Soccer D License or higher.
• Degree in a related field.
• First Aid/CPR certification.

Working Conditions:

• Part-time position, with both office and fieldwork, including evenings and weekends.

Compensation:

• Part-time, salary based on experience. No benefits offered.
