DESE Research, Inc. is seeking an AI/ML Engineer responsible for designing and implementing machine learning models to solve complex business problems, improve our existing AI capabilities, and contribute to our efforts to protect critical system functions of military platforms. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand business needs, develop algorithms, and deploy scalable AI solutions. Our goal is to design, build, and integrate emerging technologies to harden and secure existing and future systems used to defend the nation.
This role is on-site in Huntsville, AL. This is not a remote position.
The AI/ML Engineer will apply specialized knowledge in artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms to address complex challenges and enhance military platforms' cybersecurity and operational resilience. This role involves designing, developing, and deploying advanced models that interpret vast datasets, predict future outcomes, and automate decision-making processes to fortify critical system functions against emerging threats.
This position will join a team of engineers solving challenging problems the DoD faces in ensuring our national security interests. Much of the work will require independent research, analysis, and collaboration with other teams.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain machine learning models and algorithms
- Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to implement and deploy scalable, high-performance AI solutions
- Conduct data processing and analysis to improve model accuracy and efficiency
- Stay up-to-date with the latest AI/ML technologies and methodologies to enhance project outcomes
- Document and present model development processes and outcomes to stakeholders
- Troubleshoot and optimize AI systems for improved performance. Seek and identify opportunities for automation and process improvement
- Contribute to a small team in a fast-paced, collaborative, and dynamic environment focused on the delivery of results
- Participate in technical discussions and presentations; describe and summarize complex ideas with clarity; confidently discuss and demonstrate own work
- Contribute to collaborative team-based planning and estimating efforts
- Perform software development tasks as necessary in high-level or scripting languages
- Any other related activities as required by management / leadership
Required Skills:
- Proven experience in software development with a focus on artificial intelligence and machine learning
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C
- Experience with ML frameworks and libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, etc.
- Strong understanding of data structures, data modeling, and software architecture
- Familiarity with REST APIs/RESTful standards; CI/CD both for software and ML systems
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Understanding of computer security principles and secure software development life cycle concerns
- Familiarity with computer networking principles
- Familiarity with Agile principles and practices
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a computer programming field (e.g. Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering) and 2 years of related experience.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret level security clearance.
