The Network Security Administrator is responsible for the security of the organization’s digital infrastructure against cyber threats. The Network Security Administrator is responsible for monitoring the organization’s security protocols and implementing changes as needed to maintain the integrity of the organization’s networks. This individual is responsible for providing advanced level network security support and maintenance. Utilizing industry best practices and compliance standards of Incident Response and Forensics amongst other emerging trends the Network Security Administrator will create, implement, and update policies pertaining to the organization’s cybersecurity under the direction of department management.
- Support the development and implementation of cybersecurity policies and procedures to safeguard the organization's digital infrastructure.
- Perform risk assessments and vulnerability scans to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities.
- Deploy, configure, and maintain security devices such as firewalls, antivirus, intrusion detection systems (IDS), virtual private networks (VPNs), and SIEMs.
- Monitor network traffic and systems for anomalous activity and respond to security incidents in a timely manner.
- Perform regular security audits, risk and vulnerability assessments and present findings to department management team.
- Conduct employee training for cybersecurity awareness, security best practice and policies.
- Remain abreast of emerging cybersecurity trends, technologies, vulnerabilities, breaches, legislative updates and make security enhancement recommendations to the department management team.
- Collaborate with other departments and external partners to ensure the organization's compliance with security policies and best practices and compliance standards are followed.
- Maintain appropriate access and security levels throughout active directory, servers, LAN/WAN, and other security related equipment.
- Assist with the development of disaster recovery and contingency plans to safeguard data against accidental or unauthorized modification, destruction, or disclosure.
- Assist with the development of network policies, security standards and authorization rules for users to defend against unauthorized access, modification, and destruction.
- Install and support Windows servers, VMWare, MS365, MS SQL Server, SANS, Active Directory, and network security solutions.
- Maintain hardware inventory and procedural documentation.
- Responds to and initiates work orders, document issues and actions taken.
- Maintain documentation of newly installed equipment, changes to server and computer configurations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity or closely related field.
- CISSP, CISM, GIAC, or CEH certification, preferred.
- 5 years of cybersecurity experience.
- Ability to utilize security tools and technologies such as, but not limited to: firewalls, intrusion detection systems, SIEM and antivirus software.
- Knowledge of HIPAA, NIST, and HITRUST information security standards and PowerShell scripting.
- Ability to maintain servers, networks, and networking equipment. Ability to install and configure networks, printers and mail systems.
- Ability to work independently. Ability to utilize independent judgement, analytical and critical thinking skills to problem solve.
- Ability to effectively communicate with individuals within all levels of the organization, providers, vendors, and others.
- Ability to prioritize work to meet established deadlines. Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and reprioritize tasks as needed.
- Ability to work as part of a cross-functional team and collaborate with others.
- Knowledge of Incident Response and Forensics best practices and compliance industry standards are preferred.
- Current California driver’s license and proof of auto insurance.
- This position has the potential to be hybrid after initial onsite training.
