Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Records Clerk to join our team at Desert Sky Spine & Sports Medicine. This role is essential in managing patient records and ensuring the accuracy of medical documentation, contributing to our mission of delivering exceptional healthcare services.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and organize patient medical records with a high level of accuracy and confidentiality.
- Assist in the management of electronic health record systems and documentation processes.
- Sort Incoming Electronic Faxes and Records: Receive and accurately organize all incoming electronic faxes, medical records, and patient information, ensuring they are properly filed and available for medical staff review.
- Coordinate with clinical staff to ensure proper documentation practices are followed.
- Respond to requests for medical records from authorized personnel in a timely manner.
- Prescription Refills: Organize and forward refill requests to the appropriate clinical personnel for review and processing, ensuring all requests are handled promptly.
- Patient Record Management: Ensure all patient records are maintained in an organized, up-to-date manner within the clinic’s electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Compliance and Confidentiality: Adhere to HIPAA regulations and clinic policies regarding the confidentiality and security of patient records. Ensure that all information is handled with care and integrity.
- Collaborate with Medical Staff: Communicate effectively with medical providers, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to facilitate the timely exchange of medical records and patient information.
- Data Entry & Updates: Accurately input and update patient information, medical histories, and prescription details in the electronic medical records system.
- Assist with Audits and Reporting: Participate in audits of medical records and assist in the preparation of reports as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in Health Information Technology or related field preferred.
- Previous experience in medical records or healthcare administration, ideally in a pain clinic or similar setting.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and record-keeping practices.
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems, including experience with data entry and sorting medical documentation.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information responsibly.
