Overview
Extended Stay Properties is looking for a Maintenance Handyman for Desert Springs Extended Stay in Cedar City, UT. A bonus is if this person can also manage on-call front desk check-ins/situations on the evenings/weekends. As a Maintenance Handyman, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the functionality, safety, and overall appearance of our extended stay hotel. Given the age of the property, you will be responsible for addressing a variety of maintenance tasks, including minor repairs, plumbing, general upkeep, and even electrical work if capable. This will ensure that our guests have a comfortable and enjoyable experience.
Responsibilities
- Routine Maintenance: Perform regular inspections and preventive maintenance on all hotel systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical equipment.
- Repairs: Address and repair issues such as plumbing leaks, electrical problems, broken fixtures, and other minor repairs as needed.
- Carpentry: Carry out basic carpentry tasks, such as fixing doors, windows, and furniture, as well as any necessary patching and painting.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure the property complies with safety regulations, including fire alarms, emergency lighting, and other safety systems.
- Groundskeeping: Assist in maintaining the exterior of the property, including landscaping, parking areas, and walkways.
- Guest Requests: Respond promptly to guest maintenance requests, providing courteous and efficient service.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the property manager and housekeeping staff to ensure all maintenance issues are promptly addressed.
- Inventory Management: Maintain an inventory of tools, supplies, and materials necessary for repairs and maintenance work.
- Emergency Response: Be available for on-call duty in case of emergency maintenance issues that occur outside of regular working hours.
- Record Keeping: Document all maintenance work performed, including repairs, inspections, and any other relevant information.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in maintenance or handyman work, preferably in a hotel or hospitality setting.
- Skills: Proficiency in basic plumbing, carpentry, and general maintenance. Knowledge of HVAC systems and a electrician license is a plus.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and repair a wide variety of issues efficiently and effectively.
- Physical Ability: Must be able to lift heavy objects, work in tight spaces, and perform tasks that require physical strength and stamina.
- Communication: Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with guests and staff.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
- Dependability: Reliable and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with maintenance in older properties.
- Certification in HVAC, plumbing, or electrical work.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.

Your primary work schedule will be Monday through Friday, which are normal business hours. There could also be times when you have to come in on emergency situations.
