Description
The Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting the broad accounting functions of Design Air and Air Management Supply (Rheem Midwest Distribution) while ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for developing and monitoring accruals, preparing journal entries, sales tax filing, and providing financial reporting to support decision making.
Responsibilities
· Daily bank reconciliations and cash management
· Process and track vendor co-op submissions
· Process and track customer rebate agreements
· Manage company sales tax compliance, maintain jurisdictions in Prophet 21 and file monthly sales tax returns
· Approve submitted corporate credit card expenses, accrue sales tax when needed, and generate expense journal entry
· Backup A/R and Credit team with processing payments, answering phones, addressing customer concerns
· Assist in the evaluation of procedures and processes, recommend system improvements, lead improvement projects
· Develop and drive adoption of best practices across the organization and Rheem Air Distribution overall
· Develop expert knowledge on the online bill pay portal and drive customer adoption
· Facilitate and complete month end and year end close, posting journal entries, and reconciling general ledger accounts
· Troubleshoot accounting issues
· Assist with audit and tax preparation
· Assist in the development of annual cap ex and op ex budgets
· Provide ad-hoc reporting to Leadership on a regular basis
· Primary back up to the Accounting Manager and Controller
· Other duties and special projects as assigned
Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required
· 5-10 years of accounting experience preferred
· CPA or CMA certification preferred
· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
· Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Outlook
· Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
· Willingness to own and lead projects
· Ability to collaborate and work independently
· Ability to work with a diverse group of professionals in close cooperation
· Excellent time management and ability to multitask
· Notary public is a plus
