Job Summary
As an Experienced Commercial Electrical Helper/Apprentice, you will assist with the installation and repair of commercial and industrial wiring, devices, fixtures, and equipment under the supervision of experienced electricians and supervisors. This role offers opportunities to advance your technical skills and career through hands-on learning and formal apprenticeship training.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the installation and repair of electrical wiring, devices, and fixtures.
- Follow instructions from the Foreman, Superintendent, Leadman, or assigned Electrician.
- Safely use hand tools, power tools, ladders, and other equipment.
- Measure, cut, and bend conduit and other materials to precise specifications.
- Pull wires through conduit and assist with wire termination.
- Inspect systems and components for hazards or defects in compliance with NEC codes.
- Mentor less experienced helpers and contribute to a collaborative work environment.
- Maintain tools, materials, and work areas for safety and efficiency
- Ensure batteries and tools are charged and ready for use.
- Notify your supervisor of material or tool requirements for upcoming tasks.
- Participate in the company's Mentorship Program and seek opportunities to improve skills.
Expected Outcomes:
- Complete tasks on time, professionally, and with minimal waste or errors.
- Maintain a safe work environment, avoiding injuries and safety violations.
- Ensure tools and materials are prepared and accounted for daily.
- Demonstrate reliability, teamwork, and the ability to work independently.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 1-2 years of commercial electrical experience.
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and safe operation of step ladders.
- Ability to measure, cut, bend, and thread materials accurately.
- Experience pulling wires and assisting with wire termination.
- Basic understanding of electrical diagrams and prints.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., perform physically demanding tasks, and work in various weather conditions.
Preferred:
- Enrollment in or completion of an electrical apprenticeship program.
- Willingness to learn and operate heavy equipment.
