What are the responsibilities and job description for the Architectural Brand and Graphic Design Communications Leader position at Design Observer?
We are looking for a creative, engaged, strategic-minded Design Leader interested in exploring the overlap between architectural design, strategic narrative, and spatial branding. We believe deeply that great design depends on the collaborative output of our teams and as a key member of A I project teams, you will work closely with, not only other brand and graphic designers, but also strategists, architects, and interior designers, to deliver meaningful, beautiful, highly integrated projects through well-managed processes and communication.

- Embrace project goals and concepts and help develop design that supports them.
- Provide creative initiation of design ideas, both independently and with teams.
- Offer and solicit constructive and clear critical design feedback.
- Engage with sophisticated clients in a way that fully supports their mission
- Communicate complex ideas with clarity: verbally, graphically, and in writing.
- Be passionate about design and have a point of view, while fostering design collaboration within your team and with office leadership.
- Manage the production and output of integrated brand, wayfinding, and graphic details
- Design strategies and generate narratives, and the communicating materials, to guide the architectural work in clear and clever ways.
- Not only generate original thoughts and concepts but develop and refine them, both independently and through leading a team, all the way through to a final, deliverable product
- Care as much about the culture and people you work with as the projects you work on.
- Professional architectural degree in architecture, branding and/or graphic design, or a closely related field, from an accredited institution
- /- 8 years of experience in a mix of hands-on branding, graphic design, and spatial design experience in a design-focused architectural office or similar. While not required, a background in architecture is highly desirable.
- Work examples that demonstrate, in addition to technical acumen, a sophisticated design sensibility
- Expert experience in digital and physical graphic production
- High degree of expertise with the Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Excel & Word
- Comfort with modelling in Revit and Rhino would be helpful but are not mandatory
- Strong client-engagement skills, strong analytical skills, strong graphic design & presentation skills
- Ability to communicate complex ideas with clarity—graphically, verbally, and in writing.
- Legally eligible to work in the United States, without need for employer sponsorship
- Available to start within 2-3 weeks of interview
- Currently living in NYC area and/or willing & able to relocate
