We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Field Technician to join our team in servicing the commercial industry in both Div 8 and Div 10. The Field Technician will be responsible for a variety of tasks related to the installation, service, and maintenance of all scopes of work. This role requires a self-motivated individual with strong technical skills, a focus on customer satisfaction, and the ability to work independently in the field. As well as performing any additional tasks and responsibilities required by management to support the overall efficiency and success of the company.
Job Responsibilities:
DIV 8 Door, Frame and Hardware Installation:
- A door technician is skilled in installing various types of openings of frames and doors (swinging, sliding, security, fire-rate, automatic, etc.). They ensure proper measurements, fit, alignment, and secure fastening.
- This also includes installing locks, hinges, closers, panic bars, handles, and any other specialized hardware required for functionality and security.
- Understand and interpret commercial construction documents such as plans, templates, and specifications such as layouts from manufacturers.
- Communicate effectively with customers, project managers, and other team members to ensure job completion and customer satisfaction.
- Adhere to safety standards and company policies, promoting a safe work environment.
Service and Maintenance Work:
- Diagnosing Issues: Identifying problems such as doors that won’t close properly, damaged hardware, or malfunctioning automatic doors.
- Hardware Repair/Replacement: Fixing or replacing faulty door hardware, such as locks, closers, or handles.
- Collaborate with customers to determine their service needs, offering solutions and ensuring high levels of satisfaction.
- Ensure all service work meets industry standards and complies with safety regulations.
DIV 10 Toilet Partitions and Accessories Installation
- Install toilet partitions (stall systems), including panels, doors, and hardware (hinges, locks, latches, and hooks). Secure partitions to walls and floors, ensuring they are level, stable, and meet project specifications.
- Install restroom accessories such as soap dispensers, toilet paper holders, towel racks, mirrors, waste bins, and other related products.
- Ensure proper placement and secure mounting of each accessory, making sure they are functional and comply with ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) guidelines where applicable.
- Other specialty items will be installing fire extinguishers and cabinets, wall protection, lockers, flag poles, etc.

WHO YOU ARE:
Experience:
- 1-3 years of experience preferred Div 8, Div 10 or both
- Proven experience in the commercial industry, or related fields (mechanical, electrical, construction, etc.).
- If no experience must be strong in problem-solving and eager to learn hands-on.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications or training in door systems or related fields is a plus.
Skills:
- Forklift Certification (Design Supply will train and certify)
- OSHA10 (preferred) / OSHA 30 (Design Supply will provide training classes if not provided)
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment. (Must maintain company tools)
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Must be willing to travel to job sites (out of town) and work flexible hours as needed.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and move heavy items (up to 50 lbs.)
- Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods
- Willingness to work in a warehouse environment with varying temperatures and noise levels.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Department of Transportation (DOT) certification
