GENERAL PURPOSE:
Coach and mentor leadership of a distribution sites, suppliers, employees or office environment to successful implementation of continuous improvement thought the Herman Miller Performance System (HMPS). Evaluate functions, activities and processes for application of Lean Operations/Manufacturing concepts and principles of process improvement; implement solutions. Act as a subject matter expert resource and provides ongoing support. Coach local CI (Continuous Improvement) Team Members.
Manage the planning, implementation, and tracking of Supply Chain projects that focus on service, quality, accuracy and productivity. Report into the Director of Distribution with a dotted line to the HPMS (Herman Miller Performance System) organization.

- Actively participate in HMPS team.
- Coach management to develop current/target condition for the site/supplier/dealer.
- Create and develop learning opportunities for management to achieve employee development
- Connect professionally with external and internal customers to understand learning needs
- Evaluate new process for appropriate HMPS application.
- Hands-on coaching during implementation of plan.
- Promote HMPS activities and results
- Develop and manage HPMS/CI project using PMO skills including (but not limited to): project scope, collaboration, communication, data/analytics, determine the resource requirements, effective time management with milestones, risk mitigation, define KPI and deliver results.
- Must have or be willing to develop a deep understanding of HMPS concepts and frameworks (subject matter expert) through hands-on application and personal learning.
- Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering or other comparable engineering degree, or related, or equivalent experience
- Minimum 5 years experience in various manufacturing/operations/administrative roles including supervision/management.
- 1-2 years of successful experience with HMPS (TPS)
- Ability to objectively observe, reflect and conclude.
- Demonstrated ability to coach individually or in small groups/teams, manage projects (multiple projects) and apply conflict management skills.
- Understanding of change management principles and application of conflict management skills
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Ability to solve problems using the scientific method and coach others to solve problems
- Capability to learn about products and processes and willingness to work effectively at hands on levels
- Ability to fill out 'A3' and reflect with a coach (A3 = a form showing current condition, target condition and implementation
- strategy)
- Experience with performance metrics and process improvement
- Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills with ability to handle changing priorities and use of good judgment in stressful situations
- Working knowledge of Supply Chain, warehousing, and Distribution Management Concepts required
- 7-10 years’ Project Management experience preferred
- Ability to organize and prioritize work, and to meet deadlines
- Out of town travel 0%-50% of the time, and local travel approximately 10%-50% of the time, depending on the assignment.
