Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Wetland Specialist, you’ll bring valuable expertise and a problem- solving mentality to a number of different projects. Core responsibilities include:
- Conduct wetland delineations following the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers 1987 Wetland Delineation Manual and Regional Supplements, focusing primarily on the Eastern Mountains and Piedmont (EMP) and Atlantic & Gulf Coastal Plain (AGCP) regions.
- Perform forest stand delineations and tree assessments in urban environments.
- Carry out studies on the Chesapeake Bay Area, as well as research on threatened and endangered species.
- Prepare technical reports and maps using CAD, as well as write proposals.
- Oversee and manage multiple projects, ensuring they stay within scope, budget, and schedule while maintaining high-quality standards for deliverables.
- Liaise with local, state, and federal agencies.
- Provide mentorship and training to junior staff.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in environmental consulting and project management.
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Ecology, Botany, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations and processes in Virginia, Maryland, DC, and West Virginia, particularly related to land development.
- Proficient in field techniques such as wetland delineations, plant identification, soil sampling, and conducting threatened and endangered species studies.
- Team-oriented with a desire to collaborate effectively.
- Comfortable with a mix of office and fieldwork across all seasons and willing to travel regionally.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
